Write about a conversation that changed you.

Last season, a halftime conversation with my basketball coach completely changed how I handled pressure on the court. After I blew a couple of open layups and let my guy score twice, he pulled me aside, looked right at me, and told me to stop playing scared of making a mistake. That short talk totally cleared my head, stopped me from overthinking every play, and helped me turn my whole game around for the second half.

Today in class we did the worksheet on the poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity." We looked at different lines and wrote down what they meant and how they connected to the poem's main comparison.

Knowing how to analyze poetry and make connections between lines and the central comparison makes it possible for me to discover deeper meanings that will be useful during reading examinations and essays. This practice also helps me develop my mind to go beyond the literal sense of ordinary language.
