As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?



Prompt: As I grow up in the world and face new challenges, I believe I will face new regressions in my faith. Although my whole family is Buddhist, I am a Christian, and in Tibetan culture it is frowned upon to not be Buddhist. I don't believe that I am at the age where I can stand up to my parents and defy them yet. But in the years to come, when I am stronger and can face them, I will reveal the whole truth to them. Most of my friends already know I'm Christian and will be faced with a new challenge of finding my denomination.

Summary: Today in class, we learned about how logos, pathos, and ethos work and how they shape ads.

Reflection: We are all fundamentally drawn to one when looking at an ad. Ads may have more than one; for example, an ad may have pathos and ethos or logos and pathos. I will use this in the future to see how an ad draws me closer to its cause.

 The idea clustering technique allowed me to develop ideas by creating visual representations of ideas and identifying their connections. Branching out to specific examples from more general ideas was helpful in determining whether there was enough material available for making arguments. This strategy would definitely be helpful when preparing an AP Lang essay since it helps structure complicated ideas in a quick manner and avoid getting bogged down in a fixed outline. Today, we took notes on essay brainstorming techniques with a focus on clustering. As a class, we practiced this by exploring the best ways to get a job, mapping out key reasons and supporting details for each bubble. Clustering will be especially helpful for long-term writing assignments rather than quick in-class prompts. Although mapping out ideas takes a bit of time upfront, it provides a strong foundation for organizing my thoughts and writing well-structured paragraphs.

​ The word I use most right now is “fascinating “,  which means extremely interesting or cool. It is part of my daily routine because I get to read so many unique questions and creative ideas every day. I usually say it when someone shares an clever thought or a fun problem to solve. This choice shows that I am an eager, curious listener who loves learning new things. Today in class we reviewed our quizzes in ap class room from a few weeks ago I will use this information to better strengthen my thesis on the ap test. This will ensure I will get a high grade come test day.

What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, and what is one thing you need to improve moving forward?

School and sports are going well, and I'm managing my time better. My biggest problem is balancing school, friends, and staying up too late on my phone or gaming, which makes mornings hard. I also sometimes rush through homework just to finish it. I need to stop putting things off and start big projects sooner. Doing things earlier and working more steadily will make life less stressful and help me do better in school. Today in class, we wrote a paragraph on Writeable about "good kills." First, we talked about what makes a "good kill" and why it might be important in a story. Then, we highlighted the claim, evidence, and explanation in our writing. In the future, I can use this method to organize my thoughts and write clearer, stronger paragraphs. By highlighting my claim, evidence, and explanation, I will make my writing more convincing.
